I was wondering if anyone had any leads they could share for this part of Virginia. I wrote into one of the magazines one time and the writer mentioned a cache that was found in Carroll county which is where I live. The writer did not give many details on this cache. i do believe he said it was $10,000 in currency that was found on the Gwyn farm in Cana. I have searched the library and historical society with no luck . I would be interested in other leads as well. Thanks, BenVA

THE CLOSEST I can Find.

ROANOKE COUNTY :
in 1974 a treasure hunter found a cache of silver plates and coins worth $20,000.00.

Supposedly a CIVIL WAR CACHE.

During the Civil WAR CACHES were Buried all over the City of ROANOKE.

Alot Were Never Recovered.

CHECK IN THE CITY PARK, in the Middle of Roanoke IF OPEN to Detecting Yet.

============================
SMYTH County :
ABRAHAM SMITH, Buried $60,000.00 In Gold And Other Valuables in an Abandond Mine, in the POOR VALLEY, Between Allison's gap and Saltville. During The CIVIL WAR.

He Supposedly was a WEALTHY PLANTATION OWNER.

Thanks Jeff. I had heard about the find in Roanoke. It seems like I read something about it before. I believe the guy made the find in a park. I do not remember hearing of the Smyth county story. I will keep it in mind. I should add that the funny thing about the story I mentioned in my previous post is that I went to the library witin a week of getting the reply from the writer in the magazine. When I asked the librarian that specialized in local history about the story she said someone had been in about a month earlier asking about the same info. I wonder if it is not published in some kind of treasure hunting book. By the way my question was published in the June 2003 lost treasure magazine. Thanks, BenVA

I don't know What the Odds of this Are, But I'v Got EVERY issue From 2003 EXCEPT the JUNE ISSUE? :(? I'm Definately Going to Need to Check IF I Misfiled It.

DID that Issue Have Treasure Tales for OHIO in it ?

IF it Did I probably Gave it to a Friend, Now That I think about it.

During the last days of the Civil War a Confederate general and some slaves concealed more than $4 million in gold coins and buillion on the Mclntosh Farm a mile south of Forest County 811, and a few mile west of Lynchburg. One verson states that the gold was thrown into a deep well, in another it was buried near a barn and the slaves were shot to keep the site secret.

Jeff it didnt have Ohio in it. It had Alabama, New Mexico, and Rhode Island. Thanks, BenVA
