I see 2 pics of the front. A pic of the back may help even if its blank. We also need something for size reference.

It looks like an intermingled CM or MC in a twisted rope designed monogram..

im sure it wasnt a watch fob
I dont think it is either but it looks as if something is missing from the top. The edge appears a little jagged and that is why I asked.

Are you suggesting this is a medal with something attaching to the top? How would it attach if the attachment is not broken?

Looks to be as old as early 20th Century. The rope and interlaced "knot" motif (although if the ends were cinched as designed it would not result in a knot) lends to a naval or marine relation. Also the cross could signify something medical in nature. Could this be related to the U.S.S. Indianapolis or the U.S.S. Indianapolis Museum?? Maybe the Indianapolis Medical Center?

hey, cletus!
outer 'laurel wreath' on Indianapolis MC (or CM) medal could denote a victory of some sort (especially athletic). The laurel wreath can also symbolize a master's degree, could MC be Marian College, Indianapolis?
