It kind of reminds me of the state seal of Tennessee....maybe some type of an agriculture seal for tobacco?

well in my personal experience as a world coin freak 8), I would have to say its a coin. Probably a old Mexican coin, or a European coin, its obviously made out of copper or bronze and has considerable ware, but since I cant see anything on one side it leads me to believe it might be a old Roman or Greek coin from B.C. times that commonly only had one side to it to save time since it was hand made. I would value it at .99 cents hit me up if your looking to sell. :icon_sunny:

P.S. good find better than a penny

first pic looks to be upside down.
Upper left on second picture I seem to see something that looks like 1861 ???
Also a wreath or some familiar pattern on the bottom.
Could it be some type of campaign badge for the civil war, or maybe something from the GAR reunions?

does not look like a coin to me, there also seems to be the remainder of color, I see blue and red, which would go along with a patriotic or military button or badge

there is also a circular feature in the bottom middle of the second picture that could be 13 stars, which is a common motif on tokens and coins of the civil war period.

Hi..... in the middle of your second picture it looks to me that it has the Heraldic Emblem of the three Ostrich feathers, this badge was bore by Edward the Black Prince and was adopted by the current Prince of Wales, (the symbol means I Serve) it is also very similar to the Boy Scout crest but if you have a date on the object of 1861 then it is before the Boy Scout movement which didn't come along till 1908, hopes this might help you ID what looks to me like some kind of Token, TK.

On the second one I see EST PLATED can you see any other letters

I see that too... "BEST PLATED" maybe? Kinda like the button quality marks?

The entire motif is 19th century...

Many variation in the early 1800's, but sure looks like a button to me.
