Found at 1870's home site, inside of big hole is threaded, small hole is half square half round. Appears to be nickel plated. 20201109_192639.jpg20201109_192703.jpg
 

Window latch perhaps... also there were versions of "cord cleats" that only had one hole... similar to this...

Looks similar but I think it's too small for these uses. Also the outside is knurled as if it was meant to be turned. Looks more precision made like a pocket watch part. Thanks for your thoughts.

I think you're on to something like a dead bolt for a real old lock instead of a key to activate it. Marking it solved.
