I found these two items last Saturday and while they are not bucket listers I wonder if anyone can help identify them? The larger piece is white metal. Could the smaller item be half a bell? The dime is for a size reference. I found it in a CoinStar last week at Wal-Mart!

"FFF" can refer to a grade of black powder, and from I remember from my dad doing reenactments for the Civil War in the 1960's, it could be the top to an old black powder can. When we got rid of the last one, I was thinking, God, God, God, please don't let this can explode while I'm getting the lid off. After that the water hose took all the boom out of the can.

Thanks Smokey. After looking at the FFF piece again I think it may be brass. So, a non-sparking lid for a gunpowder keg would be a feasible identification.

Deftone, I think you nailed it. I would have never guessed a whistle. Thank you.
