The site goes back to the late 1700s and was inhabited till 1940s. I am not sure what type of metal it is. It is nonferrous and heavy for its size. It kind of reminds me of lead but doesn't have the softness of lead. It is broken in on both ends. Notice she slots on both sides of this thing. What is it? I am stumped.
 

It may be part of a die cast trigger mechanism from an old toy rifle or pop gun.

I know the tool that your talking about for rolling logs. I have used one before. I don't think that is what it is. That tool would be made from steel.
