It appears to be something on the left side that can be removed. Is there something there that slides out?

Looks like the coins would slide in there and stay under spring pressure... like your coin holders in automobiles... just that this is the pocket version.

Did someone already say that? I was too lazy to read everything. :-\

What is the size? Any markings? Clean that baby up a little more and let's take another look at her. Maybe something interesting lies hidden within?

Looks like something from the turn of the century (1900 ish) that held a single coin or token (mad money). Does the spring work or is the button and spring rusted fast?
