I found this next to an old cistern or the base of an old silo(not sure which it is). It was very shallow. The metal is copper and it is hollow. I took it to work and the guys thought perhaps it was part of a lightning rod. Any ideas? Thanks!

Ok....update....EBay confirms this is an antique lightning rod "spear point". They have several examples. Identical to length and diameter.

I have to poke fun at myself now about this.....when I found it, I thought the green patina was remnants of paint, the metal was steel and it probably was a point from a no-till cultivator or other similar implement. I actually used and planned on giving it a handle to use it to dig in gravel(gasp!) as it worked quite nicely for this. Thank goodness my ignorance didn't harm the tip.:laughing7:
