This isn't a metal detector find, my Dad found this one day while out working in his vegetable garden sometime in the '80s. His property was located out in the country on one corner of a 4-way intersection. In the mid 1800's there used to be a little community at this intersection, on my Dads corner was a blacksmith's shop, on another corner was a mercantile, and on another corner was a church. This item is a little bigger than a silver dollar, is non-magnetic, and weighs 5.1 oz. Any ideas would be appreciated, Thanks!!

Looks like the mercantile may have been on your dads corner. Better get a detector if you haven't got one. DCMatt solves another one!

Thanks DCMatt, you're probably right on the money with this one, I was kinda leaning towards a scale weight as well, I have just never been able to find a pic of one that looks like mine.

Yeah, my brother and I have detected there many times over the past 20 yrs, found a few large cents and indian cents and many rusted horseshoes and other rusted hunks of iron. The corner that supposedly had the mercantile has been a cemetery since the 1950's when they put up the new church.

When I first looked at it I would have swore it was from a shotgun shell lol. But I don't think they ever made a 2 ga.
