Southeastern Pa.
This is the second one I've found over the years. The first was pulled from a local drainage with millsite galore. This one I pulled from a T.O.C. dump on tues. It's about 3 inches in diameter and made of some sort of concrete. Could mit be a diecast for larege rivets??

It would take some application imagination but maybe it could be an old stoneware crock stopper. They were still in use in 19th and 20th centuries and usually outlasted the crock itself. The cross grooves would be for the wire bail and crocks come in fruitjar sizes.

If I rember correctly this is a stopper for a chemical container, the material resisted the corrosives that were stored.

This is an old post but I found something in my book while looking for something else. Its not an exact match but it could be a burned clay carboy stopper.
