Got ya. I bet thats just what happened. I am picking away at cleaning it up some more, had it for a couple years now. Still digging out finds cleaning them and getting them all in place. Thank you again for your help. You recognize the building in it?
The building resembles Big Ben tower clock in London, but will be able to tell better once it is cleaned. And are these things worth anything?
Generally the value is in the finding.
Replacement pendulums for antique clocks are not that expensive, but since your pendulum weight is embossed, it may carry some value because most were not embossed. I would concentrate on cleaning it first. And how old would this be?
The swinging pendulum clock was invented 1650's, but I'm thinking yours looks more like the Victorian era (1850's) to the Turn of the Century. More than likely it is marked with the company name, which could be New Haven, Waterbury, etc. After cleaning and finding the maker, we'll be able to date it. Sorry for the questions, just have never found anything like this before.
It's a neat find!Thanks.
