Any ideas??

I was looking through some posts and seen something that caught my eye and a memory. I found this item in the summer and always wondered what it was? Native? Newer pottery? Any ideas would greatly help!! Seems like a top off of something and has some kind of design to it, but nothing I have seen before. The area where found, contained modern stuff, 1800's and even a point and chert also, so anything is possible

Reminds me of a geode... with no goodies inside. I'm thinking it's a sand(stone) concretion that was formed around another rock.

I dunno... just chirping here.

Thanks and it does look a bit like those but I not 100% sure. Seems to have some type of knob on top for holding and a bit of a lip on one edge

It looks like to me some type of lid there seems to be a square piece at the bottom could be to lock the lid in place perhaps some type of insence pot or urn lid....interesting.

Looks like the damage done to ash trees by the Emerald Ash Borer. It's an insect wreaking havoc on American Ash trees.
