old old house. found while tearing down a ceiling. a pack rat had all kinds of stuff in his nest.
just my first thought.???

At only 1 7/8 '' across and 1/8 thick, that would be a delicate handle?

i just held the piece in question to a large cent i found outside in the yard..2 weeks ago..
the holes line up perfectly? maybe a coincidence????
someone thought the holes in the large cent was for a wizzer toy?
hmmmmmmm.....maybe they are related???

I found a wizzer toy just like that on a 1740 George II halfpenny.

I think it is a knob of some sort, second half of the 19th century I am guessing, looks very Victorian


Here's a 1970's wizzer toy.

I agree, I've been googling those and I can find the hourglass center hole in some instead of the usual square center hole but haven't found the hourglass hole with two screw holes yet. It would be a rather dainty faucet knob if that's what it is but you never know...

i think it wouldn't make a very good handle it is really thin i think it's cast iron.
it's brittle and would break easily.

I'm voting filigree button. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...........buttons were used to hold things together other than clothing.
