Updated pics . . . I took a little 'crud' off to see what was underneath. Any new guesses?? I have posted some bad photos in my first post. Forgive me, I was a little excited with my find. I have only been out a few times, so this was not what I expected!! It does make me more curious as to what's out there that's yet to be found!!

Could you give some opinions as to what this is?
It measures an even 3 feet by 19.5 inches. We haven't actually weighed it, but guessing 50 to 60+ pounds. A pretty strong magnet doesn't actually stick to it, although, I can feel a slight pull as I pull magnet away from it. Could that be caused from 'stuff' on it?

It turns out when I took off outer layer, it is magnetic. I found it about 8 feet from high tide line, buried down about 3 feet.

I would appreciate any comments or ideas!!

It looks like a great garden decoration. Or it could be a rudder keeper from a pirate ship.... Hummmm I really have no idea but it is cool looking.... Beach Papa

Ha! Actually, that's exactly where it's at now. In my flower garden. I took it out of my trunk and laid it in the flowers. It would be neat to be a rudder keeper, I will have to research what that is... I am definitely new to this field, all the way around! Thanks for the encouragement!

Look like a piece of Boat anchor.

Hey! Thanks for all of your responses! I suppose it would have helped if I shared that it was 3 foot under sand near high tide line. This was after 2 storms moved about 4+ foot of sand out.

Updated photos. . . Any ideas?

Looks like half of a lower unit to an outboard motor

I don't think it is boat related it looks like a cross brace off of a car's frame are there any bridges close by where an accident could have taken place and that's a piece of an old car in an accident or maybe someones poor man anchor. It looks like the frame part close to the engine

I could see that too.
Here's the type thing I was thinking of

Part of a vehicle maybe. It looks to me that it's been their for a while with the black color on it.
Just my two bit's.

Sorry gator, but bolt patterns don't match up to any lower unit I have ever seen, and it's steel. Nice try though.

The location is not near a roadway or bridge. From where it was, if I looked inland, there are only dunes. But, maybe it could be a car part, perhaps one on the beach a few years back and had some sort of trouble?

first thought was something for a boat but hard to tell.
I guess it can be whatever u want it to be ;)
still cool find, im always to lazy to dig up the really big stuff i find.
