sorry, not enough coffee...the pic i posted is of the sterling silver handles off a dinner knife.
like candle holders, these were filled to give the knife weight.

should have just said, knife or fork handles.

Agree, need material and size. Wood? Metal? Clay/porcelain? They look wooden to me... which could be the handle to an old fashioned silk fan.

They look like celluoid to me....NGE

They are made of brass. The two pieces went together as one like a handle and had a piece of iron in the center for stiffening like a knife handle. I have included a pic of the bottom side with the iron piece that went between the two sides.

You nailed it... :)  bent flat and also used for sugar cubes - But you nailed it.

There could have been a third "springy" piece holding them together... probebly steel and rusted away. Ot maybe they just broke in the middle.
