Any Ideas?? - SOLVED

I found this item yesterday in my yard about 9 inches deep.It has a initial on it "VR" below what looks like an engraving of 2 headstones with tiny crosses in them, my wife thinks it's a butterfly but unsure? At the very bottom it reads "A.THOMPSON." It is about 2" long and a bit over a inch wide "broke at the top" and is made of copper/brass. Any ideas??

Your mystery item is the drop (keyhole cover) from a mid to late 1800's padlock made by Abraham Thompson, 28 Temple Bar, Willenhall, England. The "VR" beneath a crown stands for Victoria Regina (Queen Victoria), signifying that the lock is of British manufacture and was made during her reign. Shapes varied, but here's an example with similar marks:
