If it's lead, possibly a weight that fit inside the pendulum of some older scales 50-75lb range. Being lead, they are easily trimmed to calibrate the scale. Did it all the time while in the Postal Service.

Thank you! But I don't think it's lead. I've found really old lead before and it doesn't get any build up like that on it. There Is like a 1mm crust on it, and when I got finally got to the metal it didn't look like lead when I scratched it

It could be an old button or part of machinery/tools. It has a nice patina on it. In what type of location was it found?

It was found off the shore of Cape Breton\ canada as Far East as you could go, I scratched it more not that it would make any difference..

Looks like a copper or brass washer. Mayeb more boat stuff. You can see an impression where it was tightened down. That type washer is called a fender washer. Tony

I poked it with a knife and it made an impression fairly easy, is that a property of brass or chopper

I cracked it in half and on the Inside it look like clay.. But when I dug into it the object looked metallic.. Really weird at work will post a picture when I get home
