Any ideas on this thing? Antique electromagnet?

I was wondering if anyone knew what this thing is. I found it in the attic of my old house along with a bunch of other antiques. My wife and I have been curious as to what it is and what it would have been used for.

It is a magneto shock machine. Get some sucker to hold one of the tubes in each hand and then turn the crank.

Quack cure for arthritis and "nervous diseases".

Another thing you could do is stick the ends in the ground and crank the handel and bring up night crawlers when you want to go fishing.😄

For sure. Old medical instruments and ESPECIALLY the fringe stuff like this are very collectible. I take it that it fits in the box it is on? That adds quite a bit.

Yup pre 1900's electrical stuff goes good especially if it can be attributed to Tesla . Nice find ! I searched patents for an hour - no luck .

Not only could you use it to make worm's come to the surface you could bypass the worms and use it to make the fish come to the surface...d2
