Any idea's on these little faces?

I had put these (two of them) in with the arrowheads in the fame. Probably didn't notice them? Here's a close up....they're either made of obsidian or jet I think. FSCN2748.JPGRSCN2747.JPG

no ideal but they sure are sweet, closed eye and open eye looks like.i would love to find something like that, thanks for sharing

Thats cool do you think the scratch on them is intentional? I know that stuff that you find is so sharp it will cut almost anything once :dontknow:

Did you find those or were they in a bought collection?

We just found them (faces) near some other finds, don't know any more than that. It's "iffy"...maybe they came from a more recent time? They kind of seem to "perfect" to be to old I think. But maybe not? They were near the oval bowls. Think maybe there were many different groups that occupied the same space at different times......but they are kind of interesting.

By scratch, do you mean the features of the face Tn? If so, yes looks to be on purpose.....but like I said, seems so perfect...so iffy :dontknow:

From what I have always seen with that material was good craftsmanship. You guys find the fancy stuff. :notworthy: Dale sent me some obsidian to study and some worked pieces. I have it in my office.

hey kat if you found them near other artifacts id say they are real, look kinda olmac or inuit to me maybe pointdealer or joshua will chime in on them they are both really good with artifacts like that,

Are you going to post it Tn? I wonder how they would be able to get it so smooth on such small pieces?

Hi Jamey....think that there was a lot of traveling & trading going on and maybe that's how they got here?

I really like those, the only way to tell for sure that they are not modern , is to put them under a eye loop piece or a micro scope. If it is tooled there will small lines that are evenly spaced and going in the same direction. If done with stone you want see the same mark twice, the mouth and eye will tell you. If they are real that's a Banner for sure.

I'll try to see if I can see anything, it's sooooo small though! We'll see....thanks for the info monsterrack!

Kat for $30 you can go to Wal-Mart and get a kids micro scope and take the slide table off and you will be amazed at what you will see on all artifacts, but it would be worth it to find out if those artifacts are real old.

yes there was, probally more than we will ever know.each day history could be rewrote,if it is not covered up.10000.00 years is a very long time, but what about the 10000.00 before that.i just like to keep an open mind bout things.i see what we did in the past hundred years and know there were millions before that.

Those are very interesting pieces. Maybe they could have been pieces in the Shaman, or medicine man's bag of charms. Or else they may have been used in a certain particular ceremony? Just curious, are there any scratch lines on the back?

hey Kat try taking some measurements from the eyes to the flat top on both of them, also between the eyes. They look so exactly the same so was just wondering. :icon_scratch:
Exactly the same is not a good thing... I do love that sweet obsidian though!!! Do you have any made out of that awesome green stuff you posted??

I see no obvious reason why those could not be ancient and purposeful. Post some close ups if you're able.

OK.....took some up close pictures of the "faces"... kind of looks like they are a bit different....see what you guys think?RSCN2868.JPGRSCN2870.JPGRSCN2874.JPG
