While metal detecting in Ecuador I found this figure. It is very heavy for its size and kind of looks like it is made of lead or a combination of metal. Any ideas?

Well it's a modern piece judging by the clothes and the figure looks to be hitting something but there is no way to tell what , maybe a tennis racket or even holding a torch or flag . The metal appears to be pewter and plated and is part of a trophy . That the way I see it and dating it is also a guess but I say maybe the sixties or Seventies plus or minus 10 years ... IMHO , Woodstock

Could be. Others have said the clothes look like armor that predates the Inca. It was found beside an adobe house that had been abandoned for many years. The area was up on a mountainside and was in the area first inhabited by the Inca when they came to the Quito area. My guide said that it was from the tribes before the Inca but I have no way to find out for sure.

Test the metal and that will tell you a lot. If it was an old tribal figure it would be easily workable metal and wouldn't be plated more than likely it is a trophy piece Tank tops and shorts were not used as armor.
