Any ideas if this is a old belt buckle?

Screaming on the deus very heavy. I found my large cent bust in same area. Any clues would be great.

Please keep eyes out for ticks. I got one on my neck in rensselear county and positve for lyme. Kicking my butt. So...please be carefull out there.

I agree with probable bridle rosette.

Yes, it is a horse bridle rosette... and it is an old one. Stamped sheetbrass disc, whose back was filled with solder, and a "staple-shaped" brass wire crossbrar for attaching to the bridle's leather straps, means it is from the early to mid-1800s.

Nice that it still has the original attachment on the back where the leather harness strap fed through. :thumbsup:
On the examples, I find this is usually missing.
