Detector(s) used
tesoro
I have been talking to buddy of mine for the last six months about the possibility of building what I consider to be revolutionary metal detecting equipment. We have been studying some diagrams, schematics, etc of metal detectors with this goal in mind...

IS IT POSSIBLE TO BUILD EVEN A DECENT METAL DETECTOR INTO SHOES?

The reasons this would be helpful are endless... less work of carrying a big detector or swinging it for hours, the ability to detect somewhat stealthily in places where detecting would not normally be accepted, etc.

I recently came across this product, and while studying it I have found that it is not very useful, or effective.

Would it be possible to do some upgrades to this equipment, build a better coil, etc. Or does anyone have any ideas about how to build something like this on my own that would actually work?

ANY thoughts or ideas would be appreciated greatly! (FYI... I am not very mechanically minded so work with me ;-)

As Barnum & Baily said.

Reasons it is not a good idea.....

1. You will have almost no coil coverage, just the width of the shoes, you swing your feet in an arc when you walk, instead of keeping the coil low and level with the ground as needed to detect. You will miss everything in between your steps as you walk....

2. If your caught detecting in areas you are not suppose to they can not only arrest you, and confiscate your detector, but also your vehicle and boat if you have one with you as well.

3. Last and the most important reason of all, it gives the rest of us a bad name when you hunt in areas your not suppost to.....

Possible? Yes. Worth a damn? No! Monty

You could make it work, but then how would you dig the target?

I just think that this idea has potential...and would be valuable for many many different reasons. I had been looking into it for a long time before I even heard of these. I still think this has amazing possibilities.

I guess I would dig a target the same way I dug a target for any other detector I may be using.

:help: Btw... might be a dumb question, but other forums I post on automatically alert me when someone adds a comment... am I missing something on this site?

Go to your profile, moditfy profile, then to Notifications and Email, on right look at "For topics and boards I've requested notification on, notify me of:" set it to the setting you wish.....

I guess I should have said, "IN THIS SITUATION, how would you dig the target?"

How about a switchblade trowel fitted into the other shoe?
