I agree... common "D" buckle, probably horse tack

the d ring has been a common tack item for a long time ---with no marking on it to help date it --- due to the fine shape it in --- I say lost fairly recently most likely

Yeap, in a nutshell 50 years max.

More than likely it was a part of a cinch as opposed to being a saddle d-ring.
