Looks like a filter of some sort. or maybe a snap push piece to give fresh air in a piece of furniture. scratch the back to see the colour and you will see if it's copper or not.. Hutch.

I like the snap push piece idea. Maybe from an older mattress.

Being on a beach likely it's from a hat.Also think they put them in on some rain slickers gear.
