Im not so sure its a wrench. It looks like an old clutch throwout lever or thrust for a Model T maybe. A member found a similar bronze part that engages the clutch I think..

Looks too small for automobile throwout lever , those levers are steel only the collars are brass.
Could be a hand throwout lever for something small.
With that round handle i think its a hand tool of some kind. Maybe a spring compressor.

Can I see the very end of the handle? Is it rounded solid on the end? The old Model T ID made for Ohio Jerry may be incorrect. I have no idea what a Model T clutch throwout bearing looked like or the size. :dontknow: As I said, I tried to search but couldnt find a verification pic anywhere.

It may help to search back to the old ID. I cannot search TN. The throwout part looks the shape but it would make sense that the lever would be steel but I have no idea I never worked on Model Ts.

I still think it could be throwout bearing related but maybe farm equipment. But I need to see the handle end. If the end is rounded and solid it would make more sense to be a tool like a spring compressor tool like taz suggested. It does appear rounded now that I look. Ive been doing this for years but its still hard to judge a picture.

I can see where a spring would seat but I can also see a bearing seated. Im wondering why a tool handle would be brass?

I think we need more pics. Can you clean up the rusted parts without breaking it?

Another possibility, but I haven't found any proof as yet, is a type of spring retainer removal or spring compression tool.

Spring retainers are used in many applications, and I've shown a standard retainer clip in the photo below, and it has a similar shape to the one on your item. This one is for a Gear Shift Lever spring.

Interesting because that would explain the one found on the beach.

We need a picture to solve this thing.
