Any idea what this is?

I found this in my backyard it's metal but not magnetic. I put the silver dollar next to it to show its size. Almost looks like the front of an old pocket watch. If I were playing Wheel Of Fortune, I would guess it spells Colorado on the inside. It was buried about 8 inches deep. Thanks, Ron
