any idea what this is?

I found this at a cellar hole in CT. I have to admit I was pretty excited when I first saw it thinking I had found my first colonial copper but after cleaning it I have no idea. Its the same size of a quarter and Im pretty positive its copper. Both sides are identical. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate your thoughts as to what this might have been.

Need more info. Is it magnetic? Measured size? Are both sides scored? Can you make out a face or anything? Monty

When I dug it it had the blueish green crap all over it that is on copper. Its not magnetic. It looks exactly like copper.

'Both sides are identical' meaning no markings visible?

yes, both sides look like the side showing. no markings. scored on both sides same exact place on bpth sides.

I know it was practised to clip silver coins due to shortage of coinage. Not sure whether coppers were clipped too?

Maybe weight and measurement of the copper disk could help establish whether is an old worn coin?

The above underlined would help narrow down the field of options, however with so many underweight counterfiets it will only throw up more questions.

The truth is this is a blank slug which was likely a copper coin which will never be fully IDed.

Solution, keep searching for a better example
