I found this hunting in the yard yesterday. The best I can tell, is it is made out of copper and is roughly the size of an ink pin in diameter.

Any ideas on what it could be?

A part of it literally crumbled away when I touched it. I have found 5 silver dimes in my yard so far and about 4 wheat pennies. Ranging from 1938 to 1953. I know my home was built in 1950, so that is the best way I know to date this item.

I would guess that to be part of the barrel to a western style cap gun.

Thanks for the reply. I just googled older cap guns and I think you are correct.
