Here's some history on the company:
Wilcox was just a little company in in Charlotte Michigan making radios and transcription recorders. They started out around 1910 manufacturing amateur radio components and kits at an office on West Lawrence Ave in Charlotte. In the 1926 they branched out into consumer radios. In 1931 Paul Gay joined the company forming Wilcox-Gay Corp. They moved into the old Bennett furniture factory and expanded into tape decks, reel-to-reel, televisions, police radios, and record players. They launched the Recordio in 1939 which was a major coup. It was advertised to the middle class in both Ebony and Life Magazine and it sold well. It recorded 78 rpm transcriptions with decent fidelity. Musicians recorded on these machines including Les Paul and Johnny Cash.
The name of the company was changed in either 1955 or 1960. More here:

Don..............

Thanks for the info Don! The records in pretty rough shape... Going to try and clean it and give it a play. Looks like the Temptones had Daryl Hall as one of the members. Would be pretty cool if I happened across a rare demo of some sort. Highly highly doubt that though!

Try going on Google or Bing and putting in Temp Tones.

If you have a smartphone you could play the record and use the app called "Soundhound" to try and ID the song/artist. It might be on there.

Unortunately, it's not a rare demo, it's a home recording made on a unit like this Wilcox-Gay home radio/phono/disc recorder-
