I think I saw something like that in a thrift store. It was part of a bookend from the 50's

Because of the red coat and flat-brimmed hat, I think we are looking at Sergeant Preston of the Yukon. But I certainly can't prove it.

I have seen that cowboy and horse attached to something else but can't remember what? Could well be a bookend. Monty

I would guess it is like a toy soldier but cowboys and indians, or is it too big for that?

Late 40's maybe early 50's.It's a cowboy with chaps, mounties don't know what chaps are.My guess it was a gun he was firing with that one hand or a rope.

Would really help to know the size of it. I can't even tell what that is behind it. Monty

I have seen something like that also but can't place it.

FYI----Don't chew on the paint, its lead base.

Size reference please. Toy soldier or bookend?

This pic from Ebay(my 2nd favorite place!) may clear this up. Here's the accompanying text:

Approx. 3" long x 2 7/8" tall, these two figures were made by J Hill Co. in England and are marked on the figures. These two look like the cowboy is after the cowgirl with gun drawn. A nice pair to display. They are in very good condition with very nice original paint with the exception of a few small chips of missing paint on the brown horse. The casting is in excellent shape with no breaks and great detail. Circa 1950. Good luck!

Close, but no, in my opinion.

Mounties never wore chaps, I agree. Just a cowboy with a red shirt.

I remember that type of toy coming in a set that had Indians too. I played with them when I was a child, mid 50's to mid 60's. I dug one similar to, or just it, mine was recovered from the old March Air Force Base off base housing; the area was called Arnold Heights. I think I still have it.

Yea how is it different? Looks like a match to me. Do we need to post-side-by-side pics?
