Are you looking for a value of this old padlock or are you trying to identify it? It's a British padlock. Dates to the mid to late 1800's. There are many versions of "IMPROVED PATENT TUMBLER LOCK" made by a variety of British makers.

Thanks for the help, new to metal detecting, so this is one of my first finds, cant imagine its much of value, maybe next time :)

It sure beats one of my first finds. Bottle caps and fishing weights. You'll be digging up Roman gold in no time.

Its kinda cool, its a nice piece because you have the locking mechanism. 8-) I'd take that part off and throw away the rusty piece. :thumbsup:Some locksmith may want to buy that mechanism. :headbang: (The part that looks like an octopus) ???

Keep @ it and HH !! :hello2:

New don't get discouraged and don't swing the loop like those idiots on tv keep it level and as close to the ground as u can overlapping the place u swing each time by about a quarter of the loop diameter use headphones and dig small clear signals to start but don't neglect all the big ones could be a cache
