Found this object in my yard. I have found things in the same general area from the mid-late 1800s. Although you can't tell from the picture, the small piece on the bottom has threads, like a screw. I believe that it is a lead alloy, due to that it will draw slightly on white paper, possibly lead-pewter. Any ideas of what it could be?

need something for size reference. offhand, it looks like a watch winder

I was thinking more along the line of music box winder since it's threaded, but I'm not paid to think, so I might be wrong.

Clock winder or any of the other aforementioned ideas.

Maybe a drawer pull.

I second this, the threads lead me to believe it is not a music box or clock winder - they usually look cylindrical with the side slightly shaved off.

It reminds me of a coffin hardware piece. The ones from 1800s could be very elaborate. Not sure about this one.

I have one of these I found that is very similar if not exactly the same I found it inside the foundation of an old one-room schoolhouse so I assumed it was a Winder for the school clock.
