Found this sometime ago, it was encrusted in dirt and a rust substance. I tried to clean it in my coin tumbler a least 3 times so far got the dirt and outer surface of junk off. It is the size of a US nickel only not as thick. In fact one side is thinner then the other side. It has a gold color to it under the rest of the crude I can not get removed. I do not see any emblem or date on it? Maybe I am just cleaning a slug or what ever. Its driving me crazy because of the color on the metal. If it was just a metal slug it would be all rust.. Enclosed are some pics. Hope they will be of some help, to find out what I have here.. Appreciate all the help Shane

Put it in some Lime a Way and check it every 5 min's and see if that don't get some of the crude off.

What did your detector tell you it is made of? Copper? Nickel alloy?

It looks like a coin or what's left of one. If a US coin it could be a half cent or a 2 cent. Maybe a V nickel? Or could be any number of foreign coins or even a token. There's just not enough left to identify it with any certainty.

Steel cent, 1943. Or a knockout from a breaker box.

But if you're seeing a gold color, then the item is brass, not copper. And it is not a coin, whatever it is.

looks like a penny in real bad shape. I used to scrape them under foot along the pavement while riding my bike as a kid and they would end up looking like that.
