I had a Vanquish 540 with the V12 coil. I found some wartime nickels that were at least 8 or 9 inches deep. I'm looking right now at an elite and is why I found your post with the search on here. Looks like a fine machine.

I have an Xterra Elite with very little time on it, unfortunately.
Balance is good with nice features. Reminds me of the Equinox 600 with more useable features. Depth is decent. Best of luck!

I moved from a Whites v3i to an x-terra elite and pulled some coins and a silver ring from a playground on my first trip out. Clearly not representative after just one outing but I was pulling small targets with the v8x coil all between 2"-6" with no issues. Im sure it will go deeper.
