Any comments on Whites 1400 DD coil?

Re: Any comments on White's 1400 DD coil?

Matt, the DD 1400 Coil is a great coil.? I use it almost daily on the beach with my MXT.
However, it has a lot of good points and bad points.
On the beach I can cover a larger area with each swing than I do with the standard coil.? It's like mowing a yard with a 40" mower deck as apposed to a 20".? You can finish the yard in half the time.
The depth is great.
It is waterproof if your hunting a wet area such as a beach.
People on the beach think your really a professional because of your big coil, (and the women are impressed with your "size")? Not, lol.?
Now, this coil is EXTREMELY heavy.? The first few times I used it I was wore out after about 30 minutes.? Now I seem to be getting used to it (and my right arm looks like Popeye).
Also, pinpointing is fairly difficult until you get used to it.? For a while I thought I was going to have to dig a 14 inch hole every time I located a good signal, but I have gotten used to it now and can hit the target fairly close and quickly.
With a coil this size I highly recommend you don't try searching a "high trash" area such as a public park or some school yards.? This coil is GREAT for areas such as a beach or an open field.
The "Bigfoot" coil is a very good coil and comparible to the DD 1400.? It is about half the weight, but does give up a little depth in comparison.

Hope this helps you out.
xXx

Don't have an MXT but do have one of those big coils with my Garrett. The darn thing is heavy! It completely throws the whole detector out of balance and in turn is hard to swing. I got it for open field detecting. Although it covers a wider area, you have to go slower so there really isn't any speed gain by using it. It is supposed to be deeper seeking but you couldn't prove it by me. My regular 9.5" coil will light up on a .22 hull at 8"! That's about as deep as I like to dig anyway. Although not for an MXT, I think they all have about the same application from brand to brand. JIM

Go with the White's Eclipse 1400DD.....you will not be disappointed. Unless you are hunting "garbage dumps" this coil is fantaSTIC. iT is correct about target masking in junky areas, but only to a degree, but maneuvering the oval tip of the 1400dd allows considerable separation if you slow down the sweep speed. I have dug coins next to, under and around trash. Since I put the 1400 on my DFX(about 3 weeks), it has not come off!! I hunt parks and ballfields alot and have "plucked" large amounts (100s) of quarters, dimes, nickels from heavily "hit" areas. The 1400DD routinely screams at coins 6"+ in bone dry ground. Pinpointing it is a snap if you use the tip of the coil to find the starting point, pull the trigger and the target will be directly under the Red, White's Logo in the front 1/3rd of the coil. Like anything else in this hobby, practice makes perfect. Good luck. tHIS COIL is not VERY MUCH HEAVIER THAN THE STOCK COIL!!
