Its made of cast iron and enamel I have no clue !Thanks ! Random 040 (Small).jpgRandom 041 (Small).jpgFound while fishing !
 

Good guess 4-H. Could it also be used for s feeding tray out of bird or hampster cage?

Me thinks so also. You can see how you held the piece vertical to put it through the wires on the cage, and then when turned back horizontal, the tabs on the side of the protrusion held it in place.

As long as we are all guessing, how about a dispenser from an old cast iron gumball machine or a change tray?

This reminded me of something my Dad had when I was a kid and he took me fishing. How a bout a bait bucket meant to hold worms or crickets? Here is one similar. It measures 6" long 3 1/2" wide.

Something along these lines...I couldn't dig up an older one. The one I was thinking about would have been used near an armrest of a 70's style automobile
