I started a post several days ago regarding a die cast metal truck I found but didn't have the tools to dig it up at the time, so I thought I'd better get back to the forum on it.
Well, I tried to dig it up with a spade, but it was so old and rusted and the clay soil was so hard it came out mostly in pieces. The truck was at the edge of an old school playground. The school was built in 1951 and I attended first grade there. Before the school was built the area was used as a rodeo grounds. The truck appeared to be of the circa 1940s due to the body style and at one time was red in color but now a dull orange. It was a pickup with a grain bed (long and narrow with sideboards). The steel or iron axles were long rusted and gone , ditto the hard rubber tires. The only identifying mark was a symbol of a diamond with an "H" in the middle of it. It was about 8" long X 3" wide. I thought perhaps a "Hewgley" toy but could not find one similar on a google search. Anyway, it's not in good enough condition to be a keeper but I am just interested if anyone knows anything about it's origin? Monty
