Found a really ratty pocket knife in the woods today. I'd love to know how old it is and what company manufactured the knife. Not much to work with, but maybe the middle shield will give someone a clue. It's very thin and about one inch long. Only half the shield is still left in the slot where it was attached. Hard to see, but I think I see the letters "E" and "A" or possibly "F" and "A" on the shield.
The knife body measures 3 5/8" long, not counting the broken off blade.
Give it a shot! Maybe the shape of the knife will help to date it. I've found relics from the late 1700's all the way up to the 1930's in this area. I'm guessing it's pre-1900, but I could be wrong. Thanks for any help.
