Antique tweezers? What is it?

I found these in my attic and I have no idea what it is. Looks like tweezers but the end unscrews off. What do y'all think? Beauty tool?

Appears to be a compass or scribe.
Maybe a scribe because a compass would normally be hinged at the top.

A compass has a pencil in one side those are more like dividers but im not sure as dividers open up farther than the item you have.
