I think it may be worth more than an average vintage sewing box with a thread despencer. You might also look around on the world wide web to find a site that focuses on various vintage sewing collectibles. I myself in some way collect vintage sterling thimbles when I see them cheap and have researched the possible value of those on such sites that focus on old sewing items.
 

Very nice. You'll probably never see another one exactly like that, so valuing it is difficult. To give you a very rough idea, this one (in mahogany) realised $400 at auction ($500 including buyer premium):

It's the kind of thing which will find its own value in the right auction. If you're wanting to sell it, try to get it listed in a specialist auction, take the auction house's advice on a sensible reserve price, and hope there are two or more collectors who really want it. In that case, it could fly.
 

Is there a makers mark? If you could establish who made it, where and when it could increase the collector value and interest quite a bit.
