Hey guys I got this at a thrift store nd well I am trying to figure out some information or anything. It is very old and in a way reminds me of a exicution sword/knife. Any help is appreciated. I took some photo's of the piece. Funny thing is when I was checking out a guy asked me if i would sell it to him afterwards. This makes me think it is somethig special. Let me know what you all think and idea's on it.

Welcome! I would be helpful if you could give us your general locality. I agree with arno. It may also be a beet, or cane knife.

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated. From idaho and we grow sugar beets. But what would a age estimate be on this you think. By looking at the material used and style. Thanks.

It's very very early it looks to have been made by hand the metal fasteners are also hand made that makes me think it is from late 1700's to early 1800's

My grandad made his own tobacco knives out of old saw blades, so being handmade isn't an indication of age on this utilitarian piece. I'm thinking early 1900's, late 1800's.
