Hey all! I got this at an antique store for $2. What did it come from? Did it come from a set of all the zodiac calendar? Thank you!

You got a very good deal. Obviously the date on the back side is 1895 and it's sterling, so nice find!

Just tidying up some blasts from the past (including some very ancient ones), largely for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

Good silver spoon. It’s Gorham marked and one of twelve in their ‘Zodiac’ range, produced between 1894-1907. The design patent was granted to Wallace Durand of Newark, NJ on 20th March 1894 for a term of 7 years, so spoons still carrying the patent date were produced up until 1901.

Gorham’s adaptation of the design included spoons for each of the zodiac symbols, this one having the depiction of ‘Virgo’ and the month of August. Tough luck for Virgos born in September! They also made coffee spoons with the same designs in 18K gold.
