I found this old button and I can't figure out what it's made out, when it was made,or what's the proper name for this button. It feels like smooth stone, maybe marble? If anyone can help that would be great. Also if anyone knows what the value might be...

Thanks
Kati

Best guess for me would be the 1920s...there was a serious Egyptian revival fad during this time and this sorta strikes me as that type of item. Very cool by the way!

Kati,

The material that the button is made of, appears to be white glass. The style is, I believe, late 1800's through early 1900's.Value wise, possibly a few dollars depending on collector interest. With all collectibles, condition plays an import role. The chips and other slight irregularities, will affect value.

There is indeed a collectors category and descriptive name for nearly each and every style of button. My impression is that the profile appears more Greek than Egyptian.

Looks like milk glass.

Because of the grain work through out the button, I think it is made out of either Quartzite or Marble. Quartzite is harder and will scratch glass. Marble will not. I'm leaning toward marble. Nice find, Breezie
