I finally made the jump and rented a display case at a local antique mall. It will be an outlet for the stuff that I can't sell for enough on ebay to make it worth my while. Does anyone have any tips for displaying, pricing, whatever? I mainly sell "man" stuff -- vintage scientific, military, some vintage college sports memorabilia, some vintage toys.

Just looking for anyone's insight who has some experience.

Thanks!!

I have 3 cases in an antique mall, 2 locked 4' glass cases for my coins and jewelry and 1 open one for my bigger items, tools etc. Be sure your pricing is neat and legible. The main thing is to keep rotating with different items, my rule of thumb is a month then move it or cut the price. Some of the vendors in our mall never change their stuff and wonder why there is no check at the end of the month. The owners of the mall are very helpful if you are selling a good amount every month. They will even store extra stock and refill my cases when I leave for Az. in the fall. The check in the mail every month in the winter is nice. Hope this helps.

I had a display case for quite a while & learned a few things. Lot's of people don't like to ask the clerk to open the case. Anything you put in the case needs to be different from what is available in the booths. If the item you are selling is available in a booth you better believe the customer will buy that one unless yours is cheaper or in better shape at the same price. I always made sure my prices were clearly displayed.....& put the price on the back of any tag that might get turned over by a clerk or customer.

Thanks for the tips, guys! I have it set up, mostly. We'll see how it goes!

I did pretty well with mine until the price of PM's fell. Sales of coins & jewelry almost immediately dropped by 50% & kept going until they were in the non-existent range. Without those sales I couldn't make the numbers work.
