LOOKING FOR OPINIONS OF AGE ?
I picked this 5'4" antique floor lamp for $8.50 + tax at an indoor flea market this last week. It needs work such as brazing on the scroll supports on the base and some tightening up along the post and top fixture and a top cap is missing on one of the bulb sockets. The only markings I can find is on the top cap of the bulb socket and it says BENJAMIN 260 xxx some No.? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Electric_Manufacturing_Company. The cord looks like it was replaced maybe late 1950-ish ??... The vase in the top of the post is what I call Aurene glass, much like early Steuben glass. It looks Victorian to me, but I've come to know that if something is made in the period style, such as Art Nouveau or Art Deco that doesn't necessarily mean it is actually from that period in time. My guess this lamp is maybe made in the 1920s or maybe the early 1930s?, but I will not be surprised if it is an earlier lamp. I'd like to maybe take the time to bring this back to original condition sometime, so having a good idea when it was made could help in finding a period correct lamp shade? The post was once gilded, but much has now worn off, so maybe this is a relic of what was know as the 1890 - 1910 "Gilded Age"
