LOOKING FOR OPINIONS OF AGE ?

I picked this 5'4" antique floor lamp for $8.50 + tax at an indoor flea market this last week. It needs work such as brazing on the scroll supports on the base and some tightening up along the post and top fixture and a top cap is missing on one of the bulb sockets. The only markings I can find is on the top cap of the bulb socket and it says BENJAMIN 260 xxx some No.? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Electric_Manufacturing_Company. The cord looks like it was replaced maybe late 1950-ish ??... The vase in the top of the post is what I call Aurene glass, much like early Steuben glass. It looks Victorian to me, but I've come to know that if something is made in the period style, such as Art Nouveau or Art Deco that doesn't necessarily mean it is actually from that period in time. My guess this lamp is maybe made in the 1920s or maybe the early 1930s?, but I will not be surprised if it is an earlier lamp. I'd like to maybe take the time to bring this back to original condition sometime, so having a good idea when it was made could help in finding a period correct lamp shade? The post was once gilded, but much has now worn off, so maybe this is a relic of what was know as the 1890 - 1910 "Gilded Age" :dontknow:

I think that you are in the right ballpark of the 20s to the 30s.

I think 20's also, I had a brass falcon lamp from that era that had the same light sockets.

Tanks!...That's what I was thinking. I did find a website that makes period looking shades for this old lamps, but being a custom made to order, I'm thinking they'll be a bit pricey?

Have one similar, cast iron, 1907 patent date on the bottom. Cast iron floor lamps are generally older than people think.

What a great lamp to restore. Lamps can be such treasured items. That is a unique piece for sure. I love lamps from that era!

Yep that is why I gave my Falcon lamp to my Sister The shade was going to be a pretty penny.

That will look nice when it has been rehabbed.

The number in the pic of the socket looks more like 250 W. I was hoping the following number would be the voltage. I believe it's older that 1920.

I've been looking online for a cap for the one missing and not much luck other than a complete old Benjamin top of a twin bulp fixture on eBay. The guy wants like $39.00 + $19.00 shipping for it. After looking at old table lamps online, I'm fairly certain this whole lamp was made by Benjamin Elect.Mfg, Co

I'm thinking a lamp like this would be a perfect fit for much of the decor found in the homes in your town Dig'n. Aren't you the guy who has the old antique shop in Victor?

That be great. Looking at sold items on eBay those twin Benjamin socket assemblies seem to come up pretty frequently. Some of those antique Benjamin multi bulb socket's sell surprisingly rather high in price. I know I've seen those around in the places I hunt for antique valuables and now I know I should maybe pick those up if the price is cheap. I plan to hit your shop sometime here in the future. I'll give you an advance notice.
