This was one of my first finds at an old plantation site. I've been told that it looks like it was made for a 4ft wooden handle to go in the bigger hole and that it was definitely made by a blacksmith. In my area the area that this was found a hundred years ago they brought in 300 slaves to dig massive canals for shipping and transportation. I found this within 20 yards of one of those canals. It's no ordinary grubbing hoe, this thing is a beast with a weight of around 20 lbs. Now I could be completely wrong but I've got a feeling that this old tool was used by a slave to dig those 30ft wide 30ft deep canals. Feel free to give me your opinions.

It looks like it could also be part of a boat anchor. I imagine if they had a canal they had canal or narrow boats?

Looks like a cultivator (plow) that has been converted into a spade, hoe of sorts.

Agreed.

Plow head was my first post which I deleted... and still think it nay be a "combo" as well.

Horse drawn.

Perhaps a size would help. :)
