OK, I know what this is, and It rang in as a silver quarter on the detector, but I can't seem to find anything on the back stamp reading " WEH.SS ". I believe the 'WEH' is for the Walter E Hayward Company of Attleboro Mass, and the 'SS' is for Sterling Silver. Can anyone give an age to this piece? I have researched tirelessly and can not come up with certainty even for the 'WES', let alone dating the use of that inscription.

ANY IDEAS??

I'd say it would predate 75 or 77 when it merged with other companies.

About ? Allison Reed

Dates for this company are all over the place, every site you go to contradicts the previous.

W.E.H. SS is definitely the Manufacturers mark. Stands for Walter E Hayward and Sterling Silver. See another example below.

Now the only question mark still is when the Hayward company used that as their makers mark. Narrowed down between 1906 - 1976. Not a small time span!
