Thanks,
I see no other dates in the book.
It is written in Spanish I think.
There is some hand writing on the back page but I can't make it out.

I know that books are rarely worth a lot....I am just curious to find out
what I can about it.

It says also on the inside cover
Imprimerie
The Woodbridge Press,LTD.,
Guildford, England

Pierre de Ronsard was a French Poet....but from the title it sounds like it might be his biography....since it says Died December 1585 at Priory of Saint-Cosme

From 1092, as the Priory of Saint-Cosme was founded, to the 18th century, the canon community received pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela in the priory. The history was marked in the 15th and 16th centuries by the royal presence in Touraine, and especially by the arrival of Pierre de Ronsard as commander of the priory. In 1565, the founder of La Pléiade received Catherine de Médicis and her son Charles IX. Offering a favourable environment to poetic creation and simple pleasures, the priory was the last residence of the poet who died in 1585.

sometimes books are worth QUITE alot.
(you would be surprised!)
though it sounds like from the size of the book
that it is a Victorian chapbook.
popular in the victorian era (though dating back to the 1600s)
A chapbook is a small
booklet, usually 3 1/2 inch by 6 inch or smaller.
They were widely available from peddlers.
Usually poetry or classic literature
(I have a lady in the lake chapbook that is 2 inch by 4 inch)
Usually they are also illustrated in woodcut illustrations,
usually have gilt edges, and unfortunately usually no date.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
The book has 3 of his sonnets in it.
It is only 80 something pages long so they might just be parts of his sonnets.
Wish I could read French.
Merry Christmas :)

Could you post a photo of the cover of the book, plus the title page?
