I found this stamp in a collection of medals I recently purchased. The handle is so ornate, I thought it was glass at first. I almost scrapped it for the tiny amount of silver, but decided to look into it more. Pics do not so it justice.

A quick ebay search....
- this is likely Victorian / late 1890s or so
- the handle is agate with quartz
- its marked but can't tell what the mark is
- these are somewhat collectible, definitely worth more than the $2 in silver I would get from scrapping

What a beautiful little object. Definitely something you shouldn't scrap for the little silver involved with it. Be nice if you could decipher the silver marks.

Pretty cool! Some post-crossers are still into sending snail mail with wax seals. Have you got a natural beeswax candle at home you can try out the seal on?

I still use snail mail [a lot].. and I use my family crest on my ring [I got from my father after he passed]on the wax to seal them.. The ring has been in the family since 1785
