Another Whazit from 1880's Back Yard

Hello All. I found this at a late 1880's home site, so deep that I almost gave up on it thinking it to be a deep pipe or beer can.

It is not magnetic, concave in shape, and is 2.5-IN across. Don't know how to research this so any feedback is welcome.
